Issue No. 8 / September, 2023 ReGrow the Loop Tree Giveaway! October 14th at the Ormond Beach Discovery Center ­ Workshops and efforts to ReGrow the Loop continue and in October those who have taken the ReGrow the Loop pledge and attended a scheduled workshop or field trip are eligible to receive a free tree.  But first, you have to sign the pledge! Signing today will ensure you have a chance to attend a workshop before the 2023 tree giveaway on October 14th. ­ CLICK HERE TO TAKE THE PLEDGE ­ Participants who sign the pledge and attend a ReGrow Workshop or Field Trip will qualify to receive a free tree. Everyone who attends a ReGrow the Loop program will receive notification from Volusia County about the tree giveaway with a reminder to sign their pledge. Depending on availability, the following distribution trees may be included: Cabbage Palm, Sweet Bay Magnolia, Southern Magnolia, Live Oak, Sand Oak, Yaupon Holly, Turkey Oak and Long Leaf Pine.  4 to 5 different varieties should be available during the giveaway. The only workshop you can still attend to qualify for this year's tree giveaway (if you haven't yet participated) is on September 30th:   "Edible Landscapes and the History of the Loop as told by its Plants."   CLICK HERE to register.   * Unfortunately the October Coastal Strand Walk sponsored by the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail is closed to registration as we have reached our maximum enrollment. ­ Upcoming "ReGrow" Workshops   A Bird Walk in Bulow Creek is one of the field trips slated for this fall.   ­  International Coastal Clean-Up Volunteers from the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail were among the many groups who participated in the International Coastal Clean-up held across Volusia County on September 16th. More than 1000 pounds of trash was collected – including tires, flooring, boxes of florescent bulbs, a tent frame, cabinet and a myriad of plastic bags, bottles and aluminum cans. Many thanks to everyone who came out to help support a clean, coastal environment in Volusia County!   ­ ­ On November 18th you won't want to miss this super scenic, 150-mile shopping extravaganza that stretches along A1A from Ponte Vedra to Ponce Inlet!    If you are interested in helping us organize or participating in this amazing event, we will hold an online meeting in early October to discuss and distribute information.
