ReGrow the Loop 2025 Underway! |
| Dedicated Volusia County environmental organizations have partnered once again to present free educational programs in Ormond Beach and nature walks along the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail. The Pawpaw Florida Native Plant Society, Halifax River Audubon, Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail, Dream Green Volusia and Tomoka State Park plus an exciting line up of guest speakers are partnering in cooperation with Volusia County and the City of Ormond Beach to present educational programs to residents who live not only in Ormond Beach but anywhere in Volusia County. ReGrow the Loop 2025 continues where the original ReGrow the Loop left off. Programs offered will include: sharing information about sustainable practices that residents can adopt to protect the county's natural beauty, increased use of native vegetation, attracting more wildlife and pollinators and eradication of invasive plant species. There will also be a Tree Giveaway. CLICK HERE for more info and the full ReGrow the Loop Calendar from Volusia County |

Two local papers recently heralded the return of ReGrow the Loop, highlighting the success of last year's initiative and the plans for Volusia County to take the program countywide. "We're so happy that along with our other RGTL partners, we demonstrated that ReGrow the Loop is much more than a saying," said Nancy Galdo, Vice Chair of the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail Scenic Highway and National Byway. "Residents were excited and eager to participate in the educational programs that were designed to create better awareness about what they can do to re-grow the vegetation and sustain wildlife along our precious Loop," said Ms. Galdo. Both the Hometown News and Observer ran articles outlining last year's success and the plans for 2025. "These articles are so important in getting more people informed and involved about how they can help and we're very appreciative of this coverage," said Ms. Galdo. |

| | FROM VOLUSIA COUNTY – Volusia County is deepening its commitment to environmental stewardship through two impactful initiatives. The successful ReGrow the Loop program, which was foundational to the future restoration and protection of the Ormond Loop, is transitioning to community leadership. At the same time, the County is preparing to launch a new program, ReGrow Volusia, a broader countywide effort to promote sustainable landscaping and native planting. ReGrow the Loop, initiated by Volusia County in June 2023, achieved significant milestones. Over the year, the program removed invasive plants, planted 123 native trees, and created habitats for wildlife and pollinators. Educational programs reached more than 330 participants, and over 200 community members pledged to support sustainability efforts. As leadership transitions to the Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail group, the County will continue to provide support as needed to ensure the initiative's long-term success.
Building on this momentum, Volusia County is planning to launch ReGrow Volusia in the near future to expand environmental enhancements across the county. This program will aim to use existing resources to support native plant distribution, develop public planting project lists, and engage the community through an interactive dashboard showcasing ongoing progress. The initiative will also leverage partnerships with UF/IFAS Extension Services to deliver educational opportunities.

| | | Joe Galdo, who walks the beach along the Loop in Ormond By The Sea on an almost daily basis, recently found some gorgeous whelks during the 7+ miles he traverses almost everyday. For those who aspire to find your own shell treasures, the beauties are out there - you just have to be consistent and make it a daily routine! | |
