IN THE LOOP - Sept 2025 - Cleaning Up and Fall Plans
Issue No. 28/September 2025
Our Volunteers Cleaned Upon September 20th! Thanks to a wonderful group of volunteers - including kayakers - the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail helped clean up the area around High Bridge as part of the Ocean Conservancy's 40th Annual International Coastal Cleanup. The OSLT was proud to join with other groups, county-wide, who each did their part to ensure that our Volusia coastlines are clean and safe. We are so thankful for our bevy of energized and involved volunteers who took to the streets, park and waterways to pick up a whole host of litter and debris from our beautiful Loop. A very special thank you to Team Captains, Alicia Oktar and Sonya Lehto, who led the charge and recruited volunteers. We couldn't have done it without you!
Several kayakers ventured out into the river and nearby islands to pick up trash
Volunteers took a much deserved break in the shade after the clean up

How-to Festival Promotes Community
Volusia County's How-To Festival event at the Ormond Beach Regional Library was a lot of fun and generated community spirit. OSLT volunteers Jody Gibian-Miles and Laura Ureta were on hand to share information about the history of the Loop, several events planned for the Fall and how people can get involved. Thank you Jody and Laura!
