We're Gearing Up for Fall
Greetings from the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail! We are preparing for an event filled 2025-26 Fall/Winter season and cordially invite you to participate with us.
This spring, ReGrow the Loop 2026 will offer a bevy of activities and informative presentations. Many of you may have participated during the past two springs in the ReGrow series and we look forward to welcoming you back! With our partners Volusia County, the City of Ormond Beach, as well as other non-profit organizations from around the County, the goals of ReGrow the Loop continue to be about sharing information to promote sustainable practices residents can adopt to protect the County's natural beauty, eradicating invasive plant species, increasing native vegetation and attracting more wildlife and pollinators to the Loop. This will be the third season, held from February through May 2026, and we have some excellent programs and walks planned for you. Program venues will include the Ormond Beach Regional Library and the Environmental Discovery Center (EDC) and walks will be held around the Loop. Look for more info in the coming months.
Another goal for 2026 is to help eradicate the invasive Brazilian Pepper tree that is taking over parts of the Loop. If you are interested in participating, let us know and we'll add you to our list and contact you when things get moving along.
Our monthly meetings are open to the public, both in person and online. Meeting information is posted on our website and Facebook page. You are cordially invited to attend!
Best regards,Nancy Galdo, Vice Chair, OSLT

Take a Walk with Us!
On Saturday, November 22nd, join us for a guided, gentle hike through the iconic, maritime hammock and coastal dunes of North Peninsula State Park. Meet at the Smith Creek Landing trailhead in the Park at 10 am and wear appropriate shoes, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.
Bryce Merritt, Co-Chair of the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail's Environmental Committee, will lead us on an informative and scenic walk though one of the most undisturbed "Old Florida" coastal environments remaining on Florida's northeast coast.

Urgently need website assistanceWe are in urgent need of a volunteer who can offer a few hours a month to maintain our OSLT website. The position would require experience adding and removing events to the website (keeping the website up to date). Please take a look at the website and let us know if you can help out going forward. We would be grateful for your assistance.
Event participation: OSLT will be participating in two events soon, National Night Out and the Riverfest Seafood Festival. Our tent will be in the children's section and there are planned activites for them. These are fun events requiring just a few hours of participation. If you'd like to help out, please let us know.
Farmer's Market: During the winter, the OSLT usually participates in the Ormond Beach Farmer's Market on the third Thursday of each month. We already have a few great, experienced volunteers who join us each month but we need a volunteer who will step up to head up this committee. Activities include bringing outreach materials and setting up the canopy, giving residents and visitors information abut the Loop, and sometimes selling OSLT merchandise. We will be happy to train those who are interested.
